Panama Premiere of Frank Martin violin ConcertoJanet Packer spent a week in Panama in August 2006. As soloist with the Orquestra Sinfónica Nacional de Panamá, under the direction of Ricardo Risco, she gave the Panamanian premiere of Frank Martin’s Violin Concerto. She also delivered a U.S. State Department-sponsored lecture on American composers she has commissioned, and taught violinists at the University of Panama, Conservatory of Panama, and Escuela Juvenil de Música. Janet was warmly received by students, teachers, orchestra musicians, and audience members, as well as friends and family of her host, Elena Kitras. |
